Summary

  • Apelles was initially a follower of Marcion (He believed in two gods: The Old Testament god who was violent, and the New Testament god who was loving and the father of Jesus.). He began to disagree with him, especially after meeting a woman named Philomena, who claimed to have divine proclamations. He wrote this gospel in reflection of new understandings gained through her.
